We provided project management and R&D advice to United Communities Housing Association to provide a high quality innovative housing solution for their tenants. The aim of this scheme was to create studio and 1-bedroom accommodation, fully compliant with building regulations. We worked with a modular housing provider to deliver the project at Alexandra Park in Fishponds.

The modular homes are innovative, portable buildings suited to many lifestyles and needs and are excellent quality, the key client requirement was speed and these units were constructed on site in the period of 5 weeks, once delivered.

The homes were not converted from old shipping containers with their variable histories and possible damage. Instead, they are bespoke units designed for the site and built from scratch, with roofs pressure-bowed to allow rain run-off.

The modular homes were be built and fully fitted in a factory with partitions, kitchens, bathrooms, wiring, and plumbing all ready to use. As well as the individual residential units, the development included communal spaces for community use and much-needed amenities such as bike storage and washing facilities.

In total, the scheme provided 31 units. The units will provide housing for vulnerable people – homeless, elderly, disabled and low-income families and individuals.
