Brixham Studios is a “temporary” scheme that aims to regenerate a former gasworks site into a creative space for local, independent businesses. The scheme aims to provide space for business start-ups working in food, retail, design and social enterprise enabling them to thrive, together with much need low-cost town centre housing. This combination will enable the positive meanwhile use of under-utilised land right in the centre of the town.

The vision for the Brixham Studios development is a destination concept, to create a social hub for entertainment, culture, work and play in low cost and sustainable spaces. Rather than compete against the existing local commercial offerings, the aim is for Brixham Studios to provide space for start-up hospitality, workshops, offices and retail outlets, enhancing the offering in Brixham, which is already well known for its independent artisan retail scene.

StudioHIVE led the business planning of the project and identified the potential uses, the design solution and the basis of the strategy to take this project forward.
